The Tuft of Flowers is a pastoral poem that contemplates man’s feelings of isolation within the rural landscape. A butterfly acts as a catalyst for the man’s epiphany that although men work alone, it is through common labor that they are not alone. The butterfly is perhaps a symbol of nature and the ability for man to discovery and rediscover through accepting a relationship with nature.
